Like many developers we wanted the smallest possible form factor with the most possible features:
Identifying a gap in the market for a simple Linux powered fanless PC for professional and hobbyist projects, Beonic is now offering a product built using our in-house developed software and hardware platform.
Beonic has a long history with embedded systems. Our in-housed developed and data aquisition equipment is used in our prize winning people counting solutions. In 2007 we began to migrate our proprietary platform to Linux.
Like most embedded developers we are attracted to Linux because of it's access to source code to assist testing and debugging, active developer community, excellent peripheral support and it's low cost.
We've used many chip archetectures (ARM, MIPS, PowerPC) in the past but found ourselves returning to x86. This architecture offers a low-power, fanless embedded platform which is easy to source, offers the widest software compatibility at an attractive price point.
