Total Retail Expo was held last week, May 11-12, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The 2-day event, at which Beonic Tech was a silver sponsor, featured 150+ exhibition stands, tech demonstrations, networking, a start-up innovation hub, free workshops, on-floor seminar theatres and around 5000 visitors / delegates.

Tristan Boyd, director of analytics at Beonic Tech, gave a talk at the Retail Tech theatre, entitled “Smart Store – Smart Data Transformed Into Actionable Insights”. Boyd, who shared the learnings from a recently commissioned study conducted by Fonterra NZ – the world’s largest dairy brand – by partnering with Bread talk, one of Asia’s largest bakery retail chains, spoke of how “advanced real-time retail analytics is the future of retail” to measure and understand how store performance and customer experience are intrinsically linked and how these data streams can be transformed into actionable business insights to drive revenue and optimise store operations.
In the talk he explored how Beonic Technologies’ new smart data platforms measure and help brands and retailers to understand shopper behaviour and equip retailers to deliver consistent in-store experiences across the store network. This includes:
1. Defining new KPIs and benchmarks for measuring in-store experiences.
2. Understanding how to integrate multiply data streams into a single dashboard to optimise store operations.
3. Learning how data is applied to discover customer insights the drive transformational initiatives to increase foot traffic, convert more customers and improve customer experience in-store.
4. Seeing how the latest technologies are being applied to change the way retailers approach the new world of “brick ‘n clicks”.
